Newbie discussion / Re: Tracking Numbers...Good or Bad?
« on: January 23, 2013, 12:09 am »
I think it's normal that they ask for ID if it's with tracking.
If the package is express it can be setup to waiver signing for and thus no ID required.
I've  never been asked for an ID ever at a post office.
I've had to fill out paper work but never has ID been required you dont have to sign you real name just any name or scribble of a name will do.
I've used post offices to ship stuff of this nature for damn near a decade and I've never had any issues with me walking right through the front door with a package full of contraband, know I do not suggest anyone without experience march into post office with illegal packages for shipping just saying 90% of my shipping is done in person with various PO in total about 6 a frequent on a monthly basis.

Has it occurred to members with questions like the above to ask your question or post your review in the newbie discussion thread instead of spam posting your username until you can go to specific section. You are making yourself feel trapped, what's stopping you from asking your question here, it is more than likely you aren't the only one that has the same question.

This is a fair point, but this option contains several flaws:

One, questions are more likely to be read by experts when posted to the appropriate forum (e.g. a question on security in the security forum).
Two, many forum regulars do not regularly read the Newbie discussion forum.
Three, the rise in spam from people trying to get to 50 will drive away regulars who might have come here to help out in the past.
Four, the rise in spam from people trying to get to 50 is now pushing posts that don't get a quick reply off the front page in as little as 16 minutes (I experimented), which radically decreases the likelihood of getting a reply.
Five, to the extent that useful replies do happen, that information is much less likely to disseminate throughout the newb community because of the aforementioned high rate of getting knocked off the front page.
Six, with newbs now sequestered in one area, it's easier for scammers to selectively poach from this target rich environment, and to hide their crap inside of inane, spammified threads.
Seven, scammers and spammers can still post in this area with throw-away accounts, so it's just as easy for them to get their information out in front of the least well informed segment of the SR community.

It's time for a discussion for a better way to accomplish anti-spam/scam goals without punishing legitimate new users.

I'd like to mention I'm quite possibly the most knowledgeable Silk Road Member on all things SR related.
I'm probably the oldest daily active member in the community and have been on Silk Road since month 2.
I've been head moderator of the forum since day 1 of the current Simple Machines Forum which is about to hit 2 years.
So if you think you can find a better answer else where feel free to post spam til you get your 50 posts otherwise lots of you are wasting your time thinking you have to post boost to 50 posts to get the most accurate answer, because as moderators we have no alternative reasons to post misinformation in regards to a question though in the open forum you will find many that will say anything to take advantage of new members.
I'm only here to help this community Silk Road does not pay me to be here, I volunteer here for the community and helping everyone the best I can with accurate information to make the best possible decision and have the best experience here.

First of all I'd like to notice that this solution is so stupid because here we have vendors here we have people ripped by scammers and they want to write their opinions in another categories but it's not possible for them till they will write 50 posts.
So they have to write stupid posts only to add to counter.
I'd write more about it but I have to add posts to my counter xD

lol Start vendor review threads for newbs  for each vendor that would like newbie reviews as time goes on those threas will grow with new members joining.

Good, and even though vendors might not admit or give you a tracking number I can assure you 80% or more have it without you knowing, it's how they prove their shipment arrived at it's location if a transaction ever goes to resolution.

Silk Road discussion / Re: WHO CHANGE OUR AVATARS TO WORLDS?
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:48 pm »
the image bugs are being looked at It's just takes a little time for the software to fully adapt and the forum maintenance probably;y needs a going thru when an admin gets a chance to fix any outstanding bugs.

The moderators are responding to the questions as they can vest answer newbie questions without fear of misinformation or alternative reason for spreading misinformation among the new members with deception in mind.
I've made myself more than available to them and If I cant answer their questions....who can? :P

Silk Road discussion / Re: FUCKED OVER BY SR RESOLUTION
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:36 pm »
I am not one of the large vendors here but I do between $3000-$4000 a mth here and this bullshit starts now we as vendors have to worry if SR Resolution is going to follow SR rules or  are they going to make new ones as they go and to hell with the Vendors Rights
The burden of proof of delivery is on you and it seems you didnt provide enough evidence to even warrant a 50/50 resolution so I feel there is something not being told here.
Maybe only sell domestic until you can require FE  for non domestic orders.
Also be sure to blacklist your customer so this doesnt happen again to you.

Off topic / Re: size of silkroad forum avatar?
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:29 pm »
The upgrade doesnt have the auto resize function so the 65 x 65 pixels is the new size to get an avatar to upload.

+1 for using this new section properly and thinking outside the box.
Now you have access to a new batch of customers while you build your post count.
You ship internationally I assume?

Might I suggest to the vendors in this section to start using their posts to answer newbie questions and you guys can even setup bewbie section vendor reviews and thread here instead of wasting your time with post boosting. Why not get your new customers from the new members.
Seems no brainer to get grassroots new customers.

With the incredible irony that I have to become a spammer in order to prove that I am not a spammer.

For example, posting whatever dumb thing pops into my head (e.g. the sentence above), rather than waiting until I actually have something of value to contribute before hitting the Reply button.

+1

This is a ridiculous point of view.
You are choosing to become a spammer because for some invalid reason you think you need 50 posts to get a decent answer to any question when in fact this section has more moderators over viewing it for any signs of spammers to ban them, in the mean time they are here ready to give you the most accurate answer to your questions.
Someone  misinformed everyone how to use this section, everyone is using the spammer mindset in this section of reaching 50 posts when they can ask and get the best answer to question with their 1st post.
